Abstract
How to deal with the spatial relationship between city and village in urban areas is a major concern of many cities in China. Especially in the construction of new towns, the relationship between city and village is often treated as a pair of contradictions. It is considered that there is a gap in cultural expression, economic value relationship and spatial expression, and the village has also become the problem space of the city. In order to promote the integrated development and mutual promotion of urban and rural areas, we have carried out relevant exploration through the overall urban design of Xiamen's maluanwan new town. The planning is guided by the needs of the citizens, draws lessons from relevant excellent cases at home and abroad, makes full use of the unique advantages and characteristics of the new town's retained villages, and puts forward the concept of "village unit", In order to promote the integrated development and mutual improvement of the city and the village, we have carried out relevant explorations through the Overall Urban Design of the Maluan Bay New Town in Xiamen. The planning is guided by the needs of citizens, draws lessons from relevant excellent cases at home and abroad, makes full use of the unique advantages and characteristics of the new town's retained villages, and puts forward the concept of "village unit", Each "unit" takes the village as the center, tries to combine the Traditional Village Lane, architecture, cultural symbols and other spatial characteristics of the village, to open up the main context of the city and village, innovate the business form of the village, improve the open space, and soften the boundary of the city and village, and finally plans 11 "Village Units" covering the whole city with a service radius of 800-1500 meters.
