Abstract
Key words: tourism, gentrification, historic district, urban renewal, inclusiveness With the rapid development of tourism and urban renewal, the phenomenon of gentrification driven by tourism and urban renewal is becoming more and more obvious. The gentrification of tourism caused by the renewal of historical blocks has attracted the attention of scholars at home and abroad. At present, urban renewal has been clearly included in the key work of the fourteenth five year plan, but in the context of traditional renewal, urban renewal still faces many problems, that is, a series of human land conflicts such as tourism gentrification caused by material space renewal and commercial renewal. In this paper, the qualitative and quantitative analysis method is used to study the tourism gentrification phenomenon of Chuancheng block in Handan city from four aspects: the transformation of social strata, the change of regional landscape, the change of consumption patterns and the emotional characteristics of local residents. The results show that: 1) at the level of social stratum, the phenomenon of social stratum replacement is not obvious due to the low level of business form and the low level of local economic development. 2) In the aspect of consumption patterns, the differences and conflicts between tourists and indigenous people lead to the shortage and disappearance of consumption facilities serving indigenous people. 3) In the aspect of physical space, the commercialization of space leads to the privatization of public space and the pollution of sound and light. 4) At the level of residents' emotional characteristics and even neighborhood relations, it is reflected in the dramatic change of material space, which separates the residents' attachment to the place and historical memory. The phenomenon of tourism gentrification has brought a positive impact on the economic and environmental improvement of Chuancheng District, but also produced by-products such as place disappearance, cultural separation, social conflict, spatial isolation and so on. For the renewal of old historical blocks, we should respect the feelings and memories of the indigenous people, and emphasize the participation of the indigenous people. We should not simply promote the renewal of old historical blocks through gentrification. To sum up, this paper aims to study the urban renewal of Chuancheng block, in order to provide new ideas for the future work of historical block renewal.
