Abstract
Inclusive design respects the diversity and differences of people, emphasizes people-centeredness, reduces the product's requirements for people's ability, and provides flexibility in choice and use. As a public service product of the city, urban parks and green spaces provide outdoor space for residents' recreational activities. However, in the initial design, construction, and later development of most urban parks, the infrastructure for recreation for the elderly is not yet complete, and the contradiction between the environmental characteristics of the park and the use needs of the elderly have become increasingly prominent. How to establish an inclusive design suitable for the recreational activities of the elderly requires the guidance of the concept of inclusive development. This paper selects Wuchang district, which has the largest number of elderly people in Wuhan, as the case study site. Firstly, this paper analyzes the relationship between the elderly population density and the service level of parks and green spaces in Wuchang district by using the location entropy method to explore the public green space resources enjoyed by the elderly population. Inclusiveness of the layout of comprehensive parks in Wuchang district. Secondly, conduct field surveys and questionnaire surveys of urban comprehensive parks, analyze the current situation of the composition of the activity space and the configuration of recreational facilities in the comprehensive parks, and explore the inclusiveness of recreational activity spaces in urban parks suitable for the elderly from the perspective of the characteristics and needs of the recreational behavior of the elderly. Design strategies and feasible methods to improve the inclusiveness of urban comprehensive parks to the elderly and create more inclusive recreational space. Meanwhile, rationally plan the activity space of the urban comprehensive park to realize the sustainable development of the urban comprehensive park environment and the fair use of public resources.
